UNWOMEN was launched in Ireland on March 8, 2011 – International Women’s Day.

It united the work of four previous parts of the UN system, including Unifem, which had operated in Ireland since 1995. Our efforts to empower women and balance gender inequality continue.

The national committee has decided to dedicate its first year in raising awareness of the organization and building a strong membership base. After that our focus will shift to raising funds for projects that we adopt.

If you would like to become a member of UNWOMEN, please complete the membership form, print out and post it, along with membership fee, to the given address.

Our aim is to help women to help themselves.

Ireland’s National Committee’s Project is:

End Violence against Women
